I commission a 24-shaft dobby loom which represents an engagement with the history of not only my city but a subcontinental migration, precolonial craft story, and premodern textilic practice dating back 5,000 years to the Indus Valley Civilisation.
I attempt to uncover this history through assembling, sanding, asking, stepping into, imposing upon and colliding with the bodies of people and the knowledge they pass on. In doing so, I invite in relations of a kind that were previously unavailable to me.
